A home for your Pocket library
Mozilla shut Pocket down on July 8, 2025, and exports could be downloaded until October 8, 2025. If you saved your export, Readsira reads it as it is: links, tags, read status, and highlights. Saving, reading, highlights, and RSS are free, with no time limit.
What happened to Pocket
Mozilla announced in May 2025 that Pocket would close. The service stopped on July 8, 2025, and the apps and extensions went with it. Until October 8, 2025, account holders could still download an export of their saves; after that date Mozilla deleted the accounts and their data.
That means the export file you downloaded is now the only copy of your Pocket library. Keep it somewhere safe, even after you import it.
Who this page is for
Readsira suits you if Pocket was where you put things to read later and you want the same habit back:
- You save articles from the browser and read them later, on a phone or a laptop.
- You tagged your saves and want to find them again by tag or by a word in the text.
- You highlighted passages in Pocket and want to keep them.
- You also follow a few blogs or news sites and would like them in the same place.
How to move your Pocket library
Open the Import page in the app, choose Pocket, and drop your file. Readsira accepts the export ZIP as Pocket sent it (no need to unpack it), a part_000000.csv from inside the ZIP, or the older ril_export.html file.
Before anything is added you see a preview: how many items, tags, and highlights the file holds, and how many links you already saved. The import then runs in the background and you get a notification when it is done. Everything lands in a collection called Imported from Pocket, and each item keeps the date you saved it.
If you never downloaded an export, your browser’s bookmarks file often holds many of the same links, and Readsira imports that too.
After the import
Pocket’s export holds links, not article text. Readsira fetches each page in the background, so your old saves become readable and searchable again. Then you can:
- Search the full text of every saved article, on the free plan.
- Triage new saves from the Inbox with the keyboard, and give each one a reason: read, reference, or try.
- Follow up to 500 RSS feeds for free, and find new ones in Discover.
- Export everything at any time, so you are never stuck again.

Questions and answers
Can I still download my data from Pocket?
No. Mozilla ended exports on October 8, 2025 and deleted the remaining accounts. If you have the file, Readsira imports it; if not, try your browser bookmarks.
Which Pocket file should I upload?
The export ZIP as you downloaded it, one of the part_*.csv files from it, or the older ril_export.html. Upload the ZIP if you have it: only the ZIP carries your highlights.
Do my highlights come across?
Yes, when they are in the ZIP export (the annotations files). A single CSV from the ZIP has links and tags but no highlights.
Is importing free?
Yes, on every plan. The free plan keeps bookmarks, highlights, search, and RSS with no time limit.
What if I import the wrong file?
Undo removes everything that import added, for 7 days. Links you had already saved are merged, not duplicated.
